Why Does The Type Of Shopping Cart Or Merchant Account I Use Make a Difference?

In order to reward your affiliates a percentage, (or fixed amount) of each sale. ProTrack needs to know at least three pieces of information.  

1. The amount of the sale .
2. The referring affiliate identification number.
3. The transaction ID so that you can reconcile the affiliate sales with your 
      merchant credit card statement.

This required sales information can either be captured from your shopping cart (or ordering system) or from your merchant account, otherwise known as (gateway).

Depending on how your shopping cart or ordering system communicates with your online merchant account (gateway), it may be best to capture (tap in) the information from the shopping cart instead of your merchant account or vice versa. The idea is to catch the sale information AFTER it has been approved by your merchant account. This way, when ProTrack automatically posts the affiliate commission to the appropriate referring affiliate, you'll already know that the transaction was approved by your online merchant account.

Of course if you manually process your credit cards from a terminal in your office, simply tapping into your shopping cart will accomplish the same result.

So in short, if your site's ordering system (shopping cart) is on our recommended list along with the type of credit card merchant you are using, this means we have previously implemented ProTrack with these components already and you can confidently proceed with the purchase of either ProTrack Pro or ProTrack Lite.
